Term 2 Week 2 Homework
My Old Easter
The gate...that gate was thrilling, as I remember it was huge and sliver and cold to the touch but that didn't stop me from grasping on and taking a swing over the deep crater that laid below. The danger of falling off and landing in the deep hole, unable to get out, only made me want to do it more. I would hold on and tilt my head back and gaze at the sky and let the wind blow through my hair. That wasn't the only thing I did that day. It was easter and mum and dad has set out the eggs across the grass and trees. The moment they said 'go' I was off, running through the grass, I was only little so it was a huge deal when I found an egg laying in a green spot. The best moment was yet to come...that was the moment I got to eat them. Now I'm older I don't get to go there, all there is left of my easter adventure is memories and in the hope that one day, I'll get to go there again.

Something of value
1. That white Australians are all safe and sound, while aborigines are suffering. White Australians don't really care about them, because there happy.
2. White Australia took it by force, "We took it all by the gun and the sword". White Australia were more powerful. They also took it cause as 'white' they saw themselves as the better people, "By the right of our race and in the name of God".
3. Because they were white and christian and the aborigines were black and pagan.
4. Because they were exiles themselves, they were treated badly and they treated the aborigines worse when they shouldn't have.
5. Drunkards, wastrel, whores
6. The opportunity to have a new life, new hope, new land, they can start all over again, "To build something of value, something to last".
7. That it was not all as good as it seemed. Its not paradise for the aborigines they were still suffering.
8. The poet urges us to make what happened different. Time to change and do the right thing. Make up for the last 200yrs with making the next 200yrs better.
9. Australia represented as a place where convicts came in and took away the native peoples land and lives, calling it there own. In the end, behind the pain there is still hope for Australia and making it better for the people of it.

The poem also show the courage which snowy and his horse throw themselves down the steep hill to catch the heard of horse showing now fear, "The wild hop scrub grew thickly, and the hidden ground was full, Of wombat holes, and any slip was death. But the man from Snowy River let the pony have his head, and he swung his stock whip round and gave a cheer, and he raced him down the mountain like a torrent down its bed". Lastly snowy river started off as an underdog and no one thought he could keep up with them, "And the old man said, "That horse will never do For a long a tiring gallop - lad, you'd better stop away, Those hills are far too rough for such as you." Snowy proved them wrong, he displayed courage and perseverance and keeping his horse by his side showing that Australia is a place where people are hard working and strive for what they want to accomplish while displaying a true Aussie spirit.
