The man from snowy river

The man from snowy river represents Australia as a tough, mountainous terrain, where the men are as hard working as there animals. The poem displays how the underdog can come out on top. The man from snowy river shows courage through his journey and he never gives up. This shows the Australian spirit and there will to succeed. Also the bond between a man and his horse and how they don't give up on eachother, showing how Aussie men are loyal to their mates.

The poem and the movie both display the aspects of Australia and its men. The poem illustrates the representation while the movie shows you. The harsh terrain is displayed through the poem, (when said) "Where the hills are twice as steep and twice as rough". The hard working displayed by Snowy River and his horse is shown in the poem when said "He sent the flint stones flying, but the pony kept his feet, He cleared the fallen timber in his stride, and the man from Snowy River never shifted in his seat". The poem also show the courage which snowy and his horse throw themselves down the steep hill to catch the heard of horse showing now fear, "The wild hop scrub grew thickly, and the hidden ground was full, Of wombat holes, and any slip was death. But the man from Snowy River let the pony have his head, and he swung his stock whip round and gave a cheer, and he raced him down the mountain like a torrent down its bed". Lastly snowy river started off as an underdog and no one thought he could keep up with them, "And the old man said, "That horse will never do For a long a tiring gallop - lad, you'd better stop away, Those hills are far too rough for such as you." Snowy proved them wrong, he displayed courage and perseverance and keeping his horse by his side showing that Australia is a place where people are hard working and strive for what they want to accomplish while displaying a true Aussie spirit.
